Hardware, Software, Apps, and Extensions

ICATER utilizes an impressive range of hardware, software and mobile apps related to accessibility and assistive technology. These include, but are not limited to, apps for alternative keyboards, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), behavior assistance, math, note taking, organization, as well as scanning OCR and screen assistance. ICATER also uses apps for text reading, video recording/assistance, word prediction and writing. When it comes to hardware, ICATER boasts more than two dozen PC laptops, as well as a number of MacBook Pros, Google Chromebooks and three varieties of iPads (with various cases and mounting systems). Alternate access hardware of many kinds is also available. More than a dozen paid software programs to meet the learning needs of struggling students can also be found at ICATER. For a complete list of hardware, software, apps, and extensions available at ICATER, contact ICATER Director Patti Bahr.

Webinars about assistive technology are narrated by ICATER faculty and staff. These helpful, concise, captioned videos demonstrate the latest in accessibility and assistive technologies so that they can be utilized for the most impactful benefit of students or researchers wanting a greater understanding of these technologies.
